IN THE NEWS – Q1 2016

March 30, 2016 – Asturian Group, Inc. receives General Contractor license for North Carolina.  Asturian Group, Inc. is proud to announce the approval of AGI as an unlimited building licensed general contractor from the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors.  We look forward to supporting both public and private projects within North Carolina over the coming years.

March 22, 2016 – AGI awarded large D/B boiler replacement project at NAS PAX River, Maryland.  Asturian Group, Inc. continues its long term relationship with the Navy, following an award for the replacement of several boilers at NAS PAX River, Maryland.  In combination with our design partner, and teaming MEP subcontractors, AGI is executing the project utilizing our in-house design-build system, providing our client best value construction techniques.  The utilization of the D/B method with AGI reduces cost, improves construction durations, and provides best value efficiencies for the client.  AGI looks forward to another successful project with our partner, NAVFAC.

March 16, 2016 – Asturian responds to electrical outage and restores power to mission critical facility.  On March 16th, AGI received an emergency request to respond to an electrical failure at a military facility.  The facility supports mission critical elements for our armed forces.  In collaboration with our client partner, key subcontractor, and AGI staff, the team responded to the site in less than 30 minutes.  The team assessed and collaborated to determine the cause of the power failure, options for repair, and developed a consensus of correction.  Once determined, the collaborative team worked through the night to ensure power was restored to the facility so that operations could resume the following work day.  AGI is proud of the collaborative relationship fostered with our partners and the capability to respond to any client need regardless of size and complexity.

February 22, 2016 – Asturian announces hiring of David DuRant as Director of Preconstruction.  David brings new capabilities to Asturian and will responsible for State/Local, Commercial, Private, and Development pursuits.  In addition, he will guide the Preconstruction services department to include overall business development, estimating, and marketing.  Following his graduation from Old Dominion University with a degree in Civil Engineering, David has acquired over 25 years of progressive construction experience, most recently as chief estimator for a publically traded development firm in Virginia.  His background in complex construction estimating and development projects, mixed use, high rise, and private developments will be instrumental towards continuing the successful growth of Asturian for many years to come.  We are fortunate to have David as a key member of our construction team and look forward to integrating his insight, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit into the company culture.

February 5, 2016 – Megan Yandle joins Asturian Group.  AGI is pleased to announce the hiring of Megan Yandle to support our recently established New Bern, North Carolina office.  We are excited to have her as part of our growing and highly capable team.  Ms. Yandle will be performing administrative and marketing requirements for both the corporate and NC offices.  In addition to her administrative functions, she will be responsible for various marketing functions, preparing client proposals, company advertising, corporate branding, and attendance at trade events.   Megan is a graduate of UNC Charlotte with a degree in Communications and is a long time resident of New Bern.  Welcome aboard Megan!

January 21, 2016 – Asturian Group, Inc. receives General Contractor license for South Carolina.  Asturian Group, Inc. is proud to announce the approval of AGI as a licensed general contractor from the SC Contractor’s Licensing Board.  We look forward to supporting both public and private projects within South Carolina over the coming years.

January 7, 2016 – Asturian Group, Inc. announces the hiring of Sarah Quiroz for the position of Accounting Administrator.  Ms. Quiroz joins AGI, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge on the importance of fostering and maintaining client expectations.  In support of both the accounting and preconstruction divisions of AGI, Ms. Quiroz is responsible for our comprehensive database of client contacts, approved subcontractors, and vendors.  Sarah will ensure the bridge of information between accounting and preconstruction is maintained and updated to the highest standards.  An integral part of our Project Management system is Procore, the standard of excellence in construction management software, allowing all project stakeholders access project data from any electronic device.  Ms. Quiroz will be an integral part of the Procore system and we look forward to her support of our clients, subcontractors, and venders.

January 6, 2016 – Asturian establishes office in North Carolina.  AGI continues to expand as necessary to support the corporate goal of providing the highest level of service to our clients.  A formal lease was signed in December for our new satellite office in historic New Bern, North Carolina.  The office will service the eastern and central portions of North Carolina, extending into portions of South Carolina.

January 6, 2016 – Asturian awarded asphalt paving contract at NSA Bethesda, Maryland.  AGI has been awarded a competitive contract to provide milling and paving construction requirements to include various infrastructure improvements.  This challenging requirement has a tight schedule and will provide our team a great opportunity to demonstrate our continued trend of completing projects regardless of complexity or constraints.
