September 22, 2015 – Asturian awarded contract at Little Creek Amphibious Base in Virginia. AGI builds upon their current relationship with the Navy at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, with the award of a large interior and exterior renovation project for the Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit. The project is being performed to provide the Unit with a completed facility to meet their mission essential and readiness requirements. The renovation will consist of a new standing seam metal roof, warehouse construction, significant fire wall/fire separation requirements, office spaces, utility improvements, exterior façade restoration, and mechanical/electrical upgrades. The project is expected to be completed in June of 2016.
September 23, 2015 – Asturian announces hiring of Tequila Cooper-Campbell for the new position of Accounting Administrator. AGI is pleased to announce the hiring of the newest addition to our team of professionals here at Asturian. Ms. Cooper-Campbell brings over 10 years of financial and accounting experience to AGI and will be supporting our goal to provide the highest level of service to our vendors and clients. Following her graduation from Norfolk State University, Ms. Cooper-Campbell joined one the nation’s largest patio furniture manufacturing representative companies, progressing her professional capabilities, seeking additional responsibilities, and providing innovation to their customer service department. Her desire for increased professional challenges and to work with a growing firm, brought her to AGI. Ms. Cooper-Campbell’s energy, enthusiasm, and passion for her craft will most certainly enhance our highly capable accounting department services. We are fortunate to have her on our team and look forward to assisting with her personal and professional aspirations to grow with the company. In addition to her passion for finances, Ms. Cooper-Campbell is the cheerleading coach for a local Pop Warner team and has taken her squads to multiple national championships.
September 28, 2015 – Asturian awarded security upgrade project at the Dam Neck Naval Annex, Virginia Beach, Virginia. AGI continues its mission to provide the highest level of construction services to our armed services through various specialized support requirements. The client required an upgraded security monitoring system to meet the ever increasing demands to provide the most technologically advanced level of force protection. Our team, in collaboration with the End User, developed a plan to provide and install upgraded infrastructure and security equipment for a specialized unit requirement. The formal plan and proposal was provided and subsequent contract awarded to AGI. The project has since been completed and is fully operational. AGI wishes to thank the Government and its representatives for this unique opportunity and we look forward to similar challenges in the future.
September 29, 2015 – Asturian selected for Design-Build Renovation at Oceana Naval Air Station Medical Clinic, Virginia Beach, Virginia. AGI is pleased to announce the award of a Design-Build renovation to the existing Medical Clinic located at NAS Oceana. With over 20 completed construction projects in the medical arena, AGI was selected for this project due to our past performance and knowledge of the medical construction and infection control (ICRA) standards. The scope of work includes demolition of an existing X-ray suite and conversion to treatment rooms. In addition, the project involves an upgrade to the pharmacy transaction area. The transaction area upgrades include security windows, coiling doors, and specialized millwork. The project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2016.
September 29, 2015 – Asturian wins Design-Build contract to provide mechanical upgrades at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington D.C. Building upon our long term commitment to meet the needs of the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), AGI has been awarded a competitive bid project to provide significant mechanical and electrical systems upgrades to an antiquated multi-story building. The project involves the replacement of existing piping, controls, and equipment in an occupied office facility. The scope also includes the replacement of over 100 FCU’s, valves, and electrical support. The project will be scheduled and completed over several phases and is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2016.
September 30, 2015 – Asturian awarded paving contract in remote mountainous region of West Virginia. Continuing in our tradition of performing projects in remote and logistically challenging locations for our clients, AGI has been awarded a project to provide paving at a facility in West Virginia. The project involves the preparation and installation of a new roadway located at the top of a mountain. AGI worked closely with a local contractor familiar with the site and unique requirements. We also mandated that the work was performed by local resources to ensure the revenue was returned to the community which services the facility. The project was completed in November of 2015, ahead of schedule with no interruptions to the installation operations.
October 26, 2015 – Asturian announces hiring of Roger Cross, Project Manager. It is with great pleasure to announce the hire of Roger Cross, Project Manager for our Maryland Office. Roger comes to AGI with over 20 years of commercial and Federal construction experience and will be instrumental in managing multiple projects in the D.C. Metropolitan Region and the State of Maryland. As with all our management staff, Roger is a true construction professional, starting his career at the field level and progressing through the positions of Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, Estimator, and Project Manager. In addition, Mr. Cross was recruited from his previous position as Director of Construction and Operations at a mid-sized firm. Roger has supervised and managed over $300M in completed work to include Regan National Airport, Social Security Administration, Department of Energy, University Projects, IBM, Secure Facilities, and more. In addition, Mr. Cross was the recipient of multiple awards for his professional accomplishments. His success and past performance was a perfect match for the long term development goals of our employees and he will certainly provide the highest level of service to our clients. November 11, 2015 – Asturian awarded contract at the Howard T. Markey National Courts Building in Washington D.C. AGI has been awarded another construction contract for the GSA in Washington D.C. The work involves mechanical systems upgrades in support of the IT infrastructure requirements in the National Courts Complex. The work will be performed in an occupied and active office environment to include all necessary ancillary support to include electrical upgrades. The Howard T. Markey building houses both the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and the Court of Appeals. The building is located just north of the White House and is an integral part of the U.S. Judicial Branch.
November 20, 2015 – Asturian Group featured by our technology partner, Procore, in a national publication and on their website. AGI strives to meet the ever changing technological advances in the construction industry and utilizes Procore as the foundation of our business operations. With a team of nearly 200 dedicated individuals, Procore provides AGI with the innovation, entrepreneurialism, and insight to stay ahead of the technology wave in construction. December 3, 2015 – Asturian announces promotion of Geoff Bambini to Vice President of Construction Services. AGI President, Drew Quiroz, proudly announces the promotion of Geoff Bambini from Director of Pre-Construction to Vice President of Construction Services. Mr. Bambini joined AGI in August of 2013 and has been responsible for the estimating and business development services. Since his arrival, AGI has been awarded multiple IDIQ, MACC, and stand-alone contracts throughout the Mid-Atlantic region covering approximately 7 States. In addition, he launched the updated website, implemented the project management software, and was instrumental in establishing organizational policies and procedures. Mr. Bambini has worked in Federal contracting for over 20 years, starting in the field and progressing through various positions including Carpenter, Superintendent, Project Manager, Estimator, and Executive level positions. Mr. Bambini is now responsible for the Project Management and Pre-Construction departments and he looks forward to supporting the continued growth of Asturian. He resides in Chesapeake, Virginia with his wife and children and enjoys attending a multitude of family sporting and extracurricular activities.
December 3, 2015 – Asturian announces promotion of Craig Britton to Vice President of Field Operations. AGI President, Drew Quiroz, is proud to announce the promotion of Craig Britton from Field Superintendent to Vice President of Field Operations. Mr. Britton joined AGI at its inception and has been instrumental in the establishment of key performance standards for our firm. In addition, he developed key client relationships throughout Virginia and Maryland and successfully completed numerous projects at the highest level, resulting in many recommendations and commendations from our clients. Mr. Britton will now assume responsibility for the daily field operations, resource allocation, continuing education for our field staff, monitoring of contract performance, act as a liaison between our clients, Superintendents and office, assist resolution to constructability and subcontractor issues, and provide general oversight for construction operations. Mr. Britton was a U.S. Navy Seabee for 6 years and has since been in the construction industry for over 20 years, primarily in the Federal arena. As with all of our construction staff, Craig started in the field and progressed through various roles and responsibilities which is key to his understanding of construction challenges and problem solving skills. Mr. Britton looks forward to his new role and has established a personal goal to enhance the reputation of AGI through driven performance. Craig resides in Hartfield, Virginia with his wife and children and enjoys the outdoors, working around his home, and spending time with his family.
December 3, 2015 – Asturian announces promotion of Vicki Knollenberg-Simon to Vice President of Finance. AGI President, Drew Quiroz, is proud to announce the promotion of Vicki Knollenberg-Simon to the position of Vice President of Finance in addition to her current position as Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Knollenberg-Simon joined AGI in March of 2014, assigned with task of creating the internal AGI accounting department. The accounting prior to her arrival was outsourced, which created challenges related to the continued growth Asturian. Therefore, Ms. Knollenberg-Simon was selected to create, establish, and formally implement the new division of AGI. Since her arrival, she has assumed control of and fostered a smooth transition to an internal system. In addition, Vicki fully implemented the accounting integration between the existing AGI accounting software and project management software. This integration has been incredibly effective for financial controls and cost savings to the firm. Vicki has also enjoyed numerous other duties to include human resources, financial reporting requirements, insurance, and too many other functions to detail. Ms. Knollenberg-Simon has over 20 years of experience in accounting and finance and adds significant strength to the overall performance of AGI. We look forward to her new role and the financial guidance she will provide over the coming years to come. Vicki resides in Virginia Beach with her husband, has two sons, and a big family she enjoys spending time with.
December 14, 2015 – Asturian awarded competitive contract for the renovation of the U.S. Naval Academy Gift Shop, Annapolis, Maryland. AGI is pleased to announce the award of another construction contract at the USNA. The fast-track project is associated with significant improvements and enhancements to the retail space. Work includes the custom fabrication of an enhanced point-of-sale cash register area, decorative concrete countertops, lighting replacement, interior finishes upgrades, flooring, and other amenities. AGI will work closely with the tenant and client to ensure the daily operations are maintained and disruption to customers are limited. Portions of work will be accomplished during non-working hours or weekends to further lessen the impact during the renovation process. AGI is proud of this award and further compliments our ever increasing portfolio of landmark projects.
December 14, 2015 – Asturian adds Steve Morean to our growing professional team of construction Superintendents. It is with great pleasure to announce the hiring of Steve Morean, Superintendent & Quality Control Manager, to our compliment of dedicated construction professionals. Steve was selected from an applicant pool of over 40 candidates and lengthy interview process. His extensive and superior background in Federal construction projects, to include numerous awards and commendations, will certainly enhance our growing staff of individuals dedicated to providing a higher standard of care to our clients. Mr. Morean brings 25 years of practical and supervisory experience throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, having completed a compliment of various project types and sizes. Most notably, Steve has significant experience in SCIF and high security projects. As with all of our field Superintendents, Steve progressed from a tradesman, bringing key “hands on” problem solving skills and practical knowledge solutions to our clients and subcontractors. We are fortunate to have him on our team and look forward to seeing Steve’s passion for excellence in action. Steve resides in Disputanta Virginia and is an active fisherman and outdoorsman.
