Asturian was awarded a construction project to repair existing AT/FP barricades located at Gate 5, Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia. The existing AT/FP Pop Up Barriers were not draining properly and significant early corrosion was reducing the anticipated life of the systems. Asturian was contracted to set new PVC drains within the foundation and tie the new drains into the storm water system. The overall scope of work involved extensive traffic control measures due to the daily influx of personnel vehicles entering the base daily, core drilling of the existing barrier foundation, setting a new drainage system, backfilling and patching the asphalt roadway and installing new traffic loops. The project was completed with minimal disruption to the base and was completed ahead of schedule.
