Jamaica Bay National Park
Utility Repairs post Hurricane Sandy

Start Date: July 15, 2014  ||  Completion Date: January 10, 2015

On October 29th 2012, Hurricane Sandy struck the coastline of New York and New Jersey causing catastrophic damage to the region. Often overlooked is the damage to infrasturcture and utility services. Asturian performed a survey, assessment, and cleaning of sanitary sewer lines, lift stations, and manholes located at the Jamaica Bay National Park in New York. Due to damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, Asturian performed work on approximately 10,000 liner feet of sanitary sewer to include flushing/cleaning, disposal, video inspection, and submission of an inspection report. In addition, evaluation, testing, and inspection of the Park lift stations was performed. The primary effort was to remove the sand/sediment as necessary to return the Park to normal operations.
